The improvements made by Southampton over the last six months always looked like taking them away from the bottom three, although Ralph Hasenhuttl might be a little frustrated it took so long to confirm Premier League Football for another season. The underlying stats suggest Southampton have perhaps deserved more than they have gotten in the last few weeks and late goals conceded to drop points has certainly not helped.

They can end the season on a high by moving above the 40 point mark with a win on Sunday and Southampton have to be considered strong favourites to do that. In recent weeks they have been scoring plenty of goals at home and have won 3 of their last 5 Premier League games here and now face a Huddersfield Town team who have lost 7 away games in a row.

During that time Huddersfield Town have conceded plenty of goals too so Southampton should have an opportunity to win this fixture by a comfortable margin.

Of course Huddersfield Town have nothing to lose and are off a strong effort when securing a 1-1 draw with Manchester United, but it is a different test for them away from home. They have conceded at least twice in their last 4 away games and in 3 of those they have conceded three or more goals so it is hard to believe Huddersfield Town can turn that around here.

You can't really know how teams are going to react on the final day, but I think Southampton will be looking to show the manager that the eleven players can make an impact for them next season too. With that in mind I think the home team will be very motivated to produce one more big effort at home and I think Southampton can win this game and cover the Asian Handicap.
