It has been a painful season for Manchester United fans with the confirmation that they are going to be missing out on Champions League Football, but everything is made all the worse as they see their biggest rivals Liverpool and Manchester City thriving and performing as they have been.

Manchester City could be on course for a domestic treble, while the four teams immediately above Manchester United in the Premier League all have European Finals to look forward to in the coming weeks. If Arsenal were to win the Europa League it would mean all of those clubs are also in the Champions League next season so this summer is going to be a difficult one for the fans to endure.

Big changes need to be made on and off the field, but I won't be holding my breath in anticipation of those. It is frustrating seeing the lack of desire for the club to improve, especially not from the owners, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could soon find himself under real pressure if another poor start to the season is made.

The manager will be looking for a big performance to end this campaign as Manchester United have stumbled towards the finish line. The 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town last weekend was downright embarrassing, but they should be able to see off a Cardiff City team who have also been losing far too many games of late.

Those losses have seen Neil Warnock's men relegated from the Premier League, but they should not find it too hard to be motivated to perform at Old Trafford. Manchester United will have to match that desire if they are going to win this fixture, but the sprinkling of some of the young talent at the club could really help.

In the main I would expect a strong Manchester United to be picked as they try and close this season in the right way. They are facing a team that struggles for goals and even this shocking defence should be able to get close to a clean sheet which may be enough for the home team to win by a couple of goals on the day.

Manchester United are not easy to trust on recent performance levels, but being at home should extract some personal pride from the players and I will look for them to cover the Asian Handicap.
