Fulham 2-1 Newcastle United

 

Two teams will be expected to come out and show their respective club's boards that they want to keep their current managers in charge of the club. Both Fulham and Newcastle United are expected to make decisions about the futures of Scott Parker and Rafael Benitez as managers, but the fans and players would love to keep things as they are.

It is a chance to make that kind of statement to those watching on and that means coming out with an intention to win.

Fulham certainly have the added motivation of being at home where they have won their last couple of Premier League fixtures. They also have a very strong home record against Newcastle United in recent years having beaten them the last 6 times they have hosted this opponent and Fulham may have just enough to edge out The Magpies again.

Defensively there are still problems for Fulham even though they have put together 3 clean sheets over the last month. They can't expect Newcastle United to be as wasteful in front of goal, although the effort the visitors put into their final home game of the season last weekend will be hard to replicate.

Backing the home team on the Asian Handicap amounts to a 'draw no bet' selection and I do think Fulham are the more likely winners. I think their motivation to finish the season on a high and secure Scott Parker as permanent manager may outweigh the Newcastle United motivation having needed to make a long trip down to West London for the final day's play.

With their recent history against Newcastle United also behind them, I will be behind Fulham on the Asian Handicap in this fixture.
